홍해의 광야길로 돌려 백성을 인도하시매

본문: 출애굽 13:17-22

17 바로가 백성을 보낸 후에 블레셋 사람의 땅의 길은 가까울지라도 하나님이 그들을 그 길로 인도하지 아니하셨으니 이는 하나님이 말씀하시기를 이 백성이 전쟁을 하게 되면 마음을 돌이켜 애굽으로 돌아갈까 하셨음이라

17 [Crossing the Sea] When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, "If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt."

18 그러므로 하나님이 홍해의 광야 길로 돌려 백성을 인도하시매 이스라엘 자손이 애굽 땅에서 대열을 지어 나올 때에

18 So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of Egypt ready for battle.

19 모세가 요셉의 유골을 가졌으니 이는 요셉이 이스라엘 자손으로 단단히 맹세하게 하여 이르기를 하나님이 반드시 너희를 찾아오시리니 너희는 내 유골을 여기서 가지고 나가라 하였음이더라

19 Moses took the bones of Joseph with him because Joseph had made the Israelites swear an oath. He had said, "God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up with you from this place."

20 그들이 숙곳을 떠나서 광야 끝 에담에 장막을 치니

20 After leaving Sukkoth they camped at Etham on the edge of the desert.

21 여호와께서 그들 앞에서 가시며 낮에는 구름 기둥으로 그들의 길을 인도하시고 밤에는 불 기둥을 그들에게 비추사 낮이나 밤이나 진행하게 하시니

21 By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.

22 낮에는 구름 기둥, 밤에는 불 기둥이 백성 앞에서 떠나지 아니하니라

22 Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.
